This course is designed as an introduction to abnormal psychology and to prepare the students for entry into a doctoral program in psychology and related disciplines. The course objectives include: understanding the practice of clinical psychology by having first-hand knowledge of the theories, concepts, and issues in abnormal psychology; reviewing classification of psychological problems and issues; learning how to respond to and deal with psychological problems; learning how to provide clinical interventions in the treatment of clients; and learning how to address the ethical practice of clinical psychology.
This course is an introduction to abnormal and so to the study of abnormal psychology, a subject area that has its roots in classical Greek philosophy and is pervasive in every form and dimension of life in our modern world.
